Historic 1760 inn in Perthshire with weekly folk music sessions

Accommodations

Bankfoot Inn offers single rooms, luxury double rooms, superior double or twin rooms, and a luxury one-bedroom apartment that accommodates up to four guests. Each room is individually decorated and includes a private bathroom, a TV, and an electric kettle with tea and coffee supplies. The on-site self-contained apartment provides a separate living space for families or small groups seeking more privacy.

Dining & Entertainment

The restaurant serves a menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, with special diet menus and options like gluten-free adaptations available upon request. Weekly open sessions for amateur musicians and visitors take place every week, allowing guests to join in traditional folk music. The lounge bar with a log-burning stove creates a communal space where guests and local regulars gather for drinks and conversation.

Pet-Friendly Amenities

The hotel is pet-friendly and welcomes dogs, with pet bowls provided and options for dog owners throughout the property. Street parking at the rear offers added security for motorcycles and bikes, and ski storage is available during winter months. A luggage storage service lets guests explore the area without carrying bags after checkout.

Location & Outdoor Activities

Bankfoot Inn sits directly on the Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 77, providing cyclists with immediate access to the route north to Inverness and south to Perth. The famous River Tay and Obney hills for woodland walks are within a short distance, and historic sites in Perthshire such as Scone Palace (17 km) and Castle Menzies (37 km) are nearby. Skiing, hiking, and cycling are the main outdoor activities available from the inn, with guests frequently using it as a stopover between Stirling and Aviemore.

Services & Practical Information

Daily housekeeping, ironing service, and laundry facilities are available for guests staying multiple nights. A packed lunch service can be arranged for day trips, and an airport shuttle to and from Dundee Airport (49 km) is offered as an additional service. The hotel provides a fax/photocopying service for business travelers, and all rooms include a tea/coffee maker with complimentary water and biscuits.

“From what I gather, this inn possesses a genuine warmth, extending from its attentive staff to the characterful, recently updated rooms. Its charm lies in the blend of historic architecture and modern comforts, not to mention the delicious, freshly prepared Scottish breakfast.
